White board is first thing most of us started observing while learning A B C D in school days. I am meeting many business friends visiting their offices, and I wonder most of them are not having white board or similar in their meeting rooms.
Here I am putting few key reasons why each office must have at least a white board.
- Helps brainstorm design ideas
- Move ideas from stickies to drawn designs
- Helps explain complex concepts
- Draw out design alternatives (for example in Software Industry, its UI or architectural design)
- Draw large sketches to help explore a design space
Even few people took it ahead, and they use it for mixed media surfaces for sorting and marking up stickies or information generated in some other way (e.g. printed-out screenshots).
And here is trick which we follow... Just take a photo of white board through your mobile phone after discussion... it gives you snapshot of meeting.!
It is important to be on same page for any business goals or decisions, and as human beings are using their eyes 80% as compared to other senses - its important to have white board in place!
